The Belin Backpack Mission

seeks to feed 200+ children from Georgetown and Horry  County schools each weekend during the school year. Your food donations throughout the year go directly to the children in our community so they do not go hungry. Your donations may be dropped off in the Family Life Center or in the narthex of the sanctuary.

How You Can Help

Donate Food Items

By contributing to the Backpack Mission, you can provide essential food items that help sustain children over the weekend. Below is a list of needed grocery items:

  • Soup (10 ¾ oz cans)
  • Ramen Noodles
  • Pasta (single serve)
  • Mac & Cheese (single serve)
  • Fruit cups
  • Pudding cups
  • Peanut butter crackers
  • Pop-Tarts
  • Oatmeal (single serve)
  • Sweet snacks (raisins, fruit snacks, cookies, etc.)

No specific brand names are required, and pop-top lids are preferred for easy access.

Join the Green Bag Program

Participating in the Green Bag program is an easy way to contribute. Pick up a green bag from the Family Life Center or the Sanctuary Narthex after any church service or activity. Inside, you’ll find a grocery list of the needed food items. Fill the bag with your donations and return it to the church at your convenience.

Make a Financial Contribution

If you prefer to make a monetary donation, we will use your contributions to purchase the necessary food items. You can also designate a portion of your Belin financial contributions specifically for the Backpack Mission.

Consider “adopting” a student! A $30 donation can provide a month’s worth of weekend meals for one child. Click here to set up an automated donation.

Volunteer Your Time

The Backpack Mission thrives because of the dedication of nearly 100 volunteers. Opportunities include:

  • Shopping for food items
  • Managing inventory
  • Packing bags
  • Transporting food to schools

If you’d like to be part of this impactful mission, we welcome your support!

Together, we can make a difference in our community’s children’s lives. Thank you for your generosity and commitment to helping fight childhood hunger!

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in.

– Matthew 25:354

Sack Hunger

is an on-going mission to stock local food pantries with staple items for those in need. You simply take a green Sack Hunger grocery tote found in all the buildings on campus, fill it with non-perishable food items, and return it at any time in exchange for another empty tote… to keep the giving cycle going.
